Так вот, чтобы не растеряться и заказать на американском сайте наушники к айфону обновки, Иннокентию нужно знать кое-какие английские слова и выражения про онлайн покупки.

Об этом и урок – полезные английские слова и выражения для того, чтобы заказать что-либо на Амазоне и любом другом англоязычном сайте.

В этом уроке - мегаполезная лексика на тему Online shopping, а в соседнем можно будет попрактиковаться и сделать упражнения по всем выражениям. Но всё по порядку.

Online shopping: слова и выражения

Вот что происходит, когда мы решаем заказать что-то в американском интернет-магазине. Не только американском, конечно, а в любом англоязычном онлайн магазине.

Я не большой фанат переводной методики, поэтому в этом уроке про Online Shopping постараюсь обойтись без перевода выражений на русский язык.

Список слов и выражений на тему Онлайн покупки с переводом – в конце урока, там-то и можно будет себя проверить. Но я вам очень рекомендую сначала все же ПОДУМАТЬ самостоятельно и сделать урок. И только потом проверять перевод. Иначе толку мало: мозг перестает работать, как только есть малейшая лазейка и возможность не напрягаться. Мозг - хитрый и знает толк в удовольствиях!)))

If you already have an account, you have to SIGN IN / LOG IN (using your username and password):

If you don’t have an account, you have to SIGN UP (=create an account and register):

When you find what you are looking for, you CLICK ON THE ITEM in order to FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE PRODUCT:

It’s a good idea to READ THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – it lists the most important features of the product:

If you want to look at the product closer and appreciate the texture or make out the details, you ZOOM IN ON THE PHOTOS:

If you want to know what other people thought of the product, you can READ THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS:

…and possibly change your mind about the product if it has a lot of negative reviews.

You might want to CHECK IF IT’S IN STOCK (=the shop has a lot of these items):

It’s a good idea to CHECK THE PRICE and see if you CAN AFFORD IT (=have enough money to buy it):

Sometimes shops just want to RIP YOU OFF (=take all your money), so the products are too PRICEY (=expensive) or OVERPRICED (=cost more than they should).

If IT'S A RIP-OFF and you CAN'T AFFORD IT (=don’t enough money to buy it), you decide not to buy it.

Alternatively, you might DO SOME SHOPPING AROUND (=compare prices on different websites) and see if other retailers OFFER A BETTER DEAL (=lower price):

When you’ve found an AFFORDABLE price, you ADD THE ITEM TO YOUR CART / BASKET:

If you need to buy something else, you CONTINUE SHOPPING.

You could then CHECK THE SHIPPING RATES (=how much different delivery options cost):

…and LOOK THROUGH THE RETURNS POLICY (=quickly read the document which explains what to do if you want to return the item):

You could also look through the Terms and Conditions (=a contract between the shop and the customer)

When you’re done shopping, you PROCEED TO CHECKOUT:

You’ll be offered to CHOOSE A DELIVERY OPTION (Standard, Priority, etc):

…and SELECT / CHOOSE A PAYMENT METHOD (Visa, Mastercard, a gift certificate, a voucher, etc.):

Online shops usually ACCEPT ALL MAJOR CARDS (=take all popular cards, such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.).

You pay, and that’s how you PLACE THE ORDER (=officially ask the shop to send you the item).

The online shop then FULFILS YOUR ORDER (=delivers it to you)

Typically, you’ll RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL with THE TRACKING NUMBER which you’ll use to TRACK THE PACKAGE (=see where the package is):

If you change your mind, you can CANCEL THE ORDER (=tell the shop you don’t want this item any more).

When you’re done shopping, you SIGN OUT / LOG OUT.

Once the package has arrived at the post office (depending on the delivery method you chose), you receive a notification. That’s when you go PICK UP THE PACKAGE (=take the package and bring it home).
